Are you passionate about making a difference in your community and the environment? The Rutgers Environmental Steward Program offers a unique opportunity to learn from University experts, state and national conservation organizations, and government agencies. The program equips volunteers with the knowledge and tools to address local environmental challenges and advance sustainable climate change solutions.
What is the Rutgers Environmental Steward Program? The 17-week certificate program provides comprehensive training on critical environmental topics such as climate change, habitat conservation, New Jersey’s water infrastructure, stormwater management, environmental justice, and more. Participants have access to a local coordinator who guides them through choosing and carrying out a 60-hour project that addresses a local environmental issue. These projects open doors to additional regional volunteer opportunities, such as joining an Environmental Commission, Open Space Committee, Street Tree Commission, or Green Team, or helping a school achieve Sustainable Jersey certification. Some participants use their knowledge to advance their careers. The potential to create significant real-world change is vast.
