PART-TIME TEACHER/NATURALIST at Rancocas Nature Center, Mt. Holly, NN

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The teacher-naturalist has duties primarily in the education branch of the New Jersey Audubon Society mission. This person provides natural science programs to schools, interested groups and the general public. The teacher-naturalist takes an active role in promoting New Jersey Audubon Society as a membership-based conservation organization.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition the above, the teacher-naturalist will work with other staff on all projects or tasks necessary for the good order of the facility including some administrative tasks.

 

EXPECTATIONS: This position requires good natural history knowledge of New Jersey ecosystems and proven experience teaching, preferably in a non-formal (nature center-type) setting. This position is for 30 hours a week; Sundays required; other days/hours will be flexible during the week depending on programming schedules. There may be occasional evening hours.

QUALIFICATIONS

BA or BS; basic computer literacy in PC programs.
Excellent personal and communication skills
Punctual with good time management skills.
Strong spirit of cooperation and teamwork.
Able to demonstrate initiative and a positive attitude and to accept direction and constructive criticism.

SALARY: Depending upon experience.
