Invasive Species Removal
Project Description: On site invasive species removal, deer exclusion fence maintenance, other wildlife enhancement projects such as bird box construction, care, replenishment. Stream stabilization through revegetation of banks.

Evaluation Plan: Walk site to observe removal of plant material, check following season for regrowth, photographic record of before and after removal. Verbal and written work plan ahead of time, reference to plan during internship. Written evaluation at conclusion of planned internship.

Characterization of Known Contaminated Sites
Project Description: Individual will conduct research on sites located in the Great Swamp Watershed that are currently listed in the NJDEP’s Known Contaminated Sites database. Information will be obtained from the NJDEP through the Freedom of Information Act. This project involves the following tasks:
The current listing is from 2001. Inquiries should be made about an updated listing.
Contacting several different bureaus to obtain required information.
Arranging for and conducting file reviews, if necessary.
Obtaining information on the nature and extent of contamination associated with each site.
Determining the current status of each site.
Summarizing findings in a report.
Creating an article for the GSWA newsletter covering the subject material.
This project will attempt to provide a more complete picture of contaminated areas known to be located in the watershed that may have had an impact on water quality. It will serve to be informative to the GSWA membership and other concerned parties.
